About Steve Sharp

Steve Sharp has been writing songs for many years. With a mathematical mind and an engineering degree, Steve approaches music with an ear to intervals and changes and voicings. The result is an eclectic mix of genres to be sure, and his debut album, “The Writing on the Wall, the Steve Sharp Science of Compassion Project,” ranges across the spectrum of popular music.

The Writing on the Wall - The Steve Sharp Science of Compassion Project - Music Album
The theme of The Writing on the Wall is “Messages for a planet in transition”—messages of hope and warnings. Steve finds meaning in imagining what the world could be if consciousness were taken as fundamental in the way that space and time are considered fundamental, and he is developing the idea that each person lives in a uniquely developed personal universe, maybe with a god, maybe without, but equally real and true nonetheless.
Life is seen as a complex interplay of agencies of Karma, Chaos, Will and Grace within a space-time-consciousness multiverse. It’s all there somehow with Dark Matter and Dark Energy and String Theory all woven together. If you listen carefully, you can hear it in the songs.

A vegetarian and meditator, Steve worked for more than twenty years in the corporate training realm, where his end-of-class evaluations from trainees noted his caring attitude, his eccentric antics, and his ability to reframe difficult ideas to further their understanding. Steve’s last words to every class: “Spread the Love.”

HONK FOR STEVE
“Honk for Steve” is a short documentary film (official entry in the 3rd Annual Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival, and winner of a My Hero award in Los Angeles 2014). Steve has been promoting peace with his one-man vigil on Friday nights at the corner of Sunset and Hillhurst in Los Angeles.

With his commitment to the understanding that peace comes from realizing compassion, Steve has put together an album of messages for a world in transition. “The Writing on the Wall, the Steve Sharp Science of Compassion Project.”
